The Alchemist Zoom
A self-initiated AI-art series: dozens of consistent, symmetrical zoom-tunnel views into the same imagined alchemist's den — candlelight, shelved curios, a hooded figure at a workbench — generated under Gavin's own "thepanographer" handle and assembled in Final Cut alongside licensed music and sound design.
Every clip zooms into the same idea: a candlelit alchemist’s den, symmetrical, floor-to-ceiling shelves of curios, a hooded figure bent over a workbench at the vanishing point. Generated in short loops under Gavin’s own AI handle, “thepanographer,” dozens of variations exist — some warmer and more ornate, some darker and more mechanical, all built from the same compositional idea pushed through repeatedly until it became a series rather than a single image.
The project lives as a Final Cut library with the full clip set, a set of upscales, and four licensed music tracks laid against it — real production work, not a folder of test outputs. What isn’t on the drive is a single rendered master: this is the raw material for a finished piece, assembled but not yet exported. The stills here are frame grabs from the individual clips, shown as a rotating set rather than a claim that the edit is finished.

This is self-initiated work — no client, no brief — and it predates the current wave of AI-video tools by more than a year.
