Studio Wildcard, the studio behind Ark: Survival Evolved and Ark: Survival Ascended, came to Gavin against a pre-launch deadline. What they needed sits in a specific spot in how a game is built: the cutscene that plays over a loading sequence, carrying the story forward while the next area loads in behind it — standard practice in games since at least Call of Duty 4, and a way to turn a technical necessity into narrative rather than a spinner on a black screen.
There wasn’t time to build that content the traditional way before launch. The studio supplied its own storyboards and character designs — the story and the cast were already set — and the job was to turn that into finished cutscenes fast enough to ship with the game, using generative-AI video production rather than a full traditional animation pipeline.
